Do you water blast or clean roofs before recoating them?

We pressure wash or soft wash roofs before recoating them. We don’t water blast because that can damage a roof if the water 
pressure is too much. We will also apply a moss and lichen treatment.

Can minor roof repairs be completed before painting?

Yes we will always complete any necessary repairs to a roof before we repaint it.

Why is a primer or basecoat applied before the topcoat?

A primer is different to a basecoat. A primer is used where there is bare metal exposed. A base coat is applied to provide better adhesion for the top coat. 
Depending on the roof type it might require a primer or a base coat or both.

How is roof paint applied?

We apply roof paint using a professional airless spray system which applies a deeper coat compared to the air systems used in car painting. 
Airless spray also results in less atomisation of the paint so overspray is much less.

How long does a roof restoration usually take?

The time a roof restoration takes depends on the size of the roof and the extent of the preparation and repair work required. 
Usually the full job takes 3 to 5 days of total time. However when we apply a moss and lichen treatment we like to leave it for a around 
one week, before applying the top coat.

Can my roof be restored all year round in Canterbury?

We carry out roof restorations in Canterbury from Spring to Autumn. The weather conditions over winter are not suitable for restoring and painting roofs.
